Apollo was bought by Philip Rocher to race, through Paul Webber, our local National Hunt racing trainer. Apollo started his career on the racetrack but it was decided he didn’t have his heart in getting over the line first, so in 2021 he moved to DE HQ to see if he is more passionate about eventing!
So far he has way exceeded our expectations and has taken to all aspects of training exceptionally well. In 2023, Apollo won and placed with Honor at BE90 level, and continued to place at BE100 level, picking up a rosette at nearly every outing – the dressage judges love him!
For 2024, Alice Rocher (Kate’s sister) will take over the reins and look to enjoy some grass roots eventing. The pair have had a great start with double clears and even a win at BCA. They quickly stepped up to BE100 and even contested Blair CCI*, where a slip up at the last combination on xc put pay to a top result. Alice and Apollo will look to Aston CCI* and step up to Novice in 2025.
Apollo is an incredibly kind horse and a very striking model. He has three great paces and naturally holds a lovely rhythm to his fences. We are looking forward to supporting Alice and Apollo throughout the year.
