The big boys headed north for an 8.18am (!!) dressage…this resulted in a 2.30am alarm for poor Sue!
Craig rode MBF Dassett Legacy (Zam) in the AI and a spring focusing on dressage has certainly paid off, with the pair scoring a very competitive 33. They jumped a spot on jumping round, leaving all the coloured poles up, to be in a very competitive place heading into the final phase. For a horse that has only ever had one XC fault in his life, today that became two!!! Three experienced horses in a row had a sudden spook and look at a large drop fence, and one after another, all stopped at it! We could not believe it – Zam is SUCH a reliable horse! Just shows we can never take anything for granted! Sadly this cost them a top placing, but it goes without saying, he was class around the rest.
HHS Dassett Class (Matt) was having his second run of the season, again with Craig, around the Intermediate. The pair did a smart test for a score of 31. They also followed this up with a cracking clear in the SJ, jumping a great round. I told Craig how awesome and fun this horse is XC and Craig came home smiling from ear to ear! Matt is such a pleasure to ride to all types of fences and adores his XC – a very exciting horse and so rewarding to see him progress and mature. Their performance earned them a low placing…and lots of carrots!
