To give us targets, to help fine tune our training and to keep up our match practice, every 3 weeks we are clearing the jumps out of our jumping arena, and replacing them with white boards! Lizzie Murray and Emma Forsyth have stepped up as our video link judges and crucially, Sue and Hayley have selected classic tunes for each test…!
The exercise has been fantastic for us all – far more beneficial that we first anticipated. It is great to ride through the new International tests, which in turn helps us to target our training. We have been thrilled with the marks and have even seen numerous 9s and a 10 for a couple of halts! The banter on the DE Whats App group – where all the tests were steamed – has been highly entertaining too, and we’ve loved having those we are not able to see for now back involve with the action.
Round 1 saw victory for Ian Wills’ Marli III (Marli) & Craig in the 4*, whilst HHS Dassett Class (Matt) & Kate took the 3* section. A full 2* section was won by Fiona Lascelles’ Oakwood Romeo (Romeo) and Joe.
Without exception, everyone’s marks came down for round 2! This time, 4* victory went to Call Me Dassett (Cas) & Kate, the 3* was won by MBF Dassett Legacy & Craig and the 2* was once again topped by Oakwood Romeo & Joe. Round 2 also fell on VE Day, prompting some very artistic quarter mark work from Sue.
We have also had a special award for ‘Best In Show’, which has consistently been won by Toshy & Ella!
Prizes included some (amended) DE rosettes (from our DE 8/9YO Adv class), chocolate and vouchers from some delicious produce from Mama Roch, to include a cottage pie, and apple crumble and a roast dinner!
Bring on round 3…
